Yoga Baratha

Padma means "lotus" asana means "Pose". The body is locked firmly in its position & physical movements are reduced to a minimum. The lower back will be held straight & one can feel the balancing effect on the body. Before attempting padmasana the legs, ankles & the knees to be flexible. If the knees are slightly stiff, then precautions should be taken.


Technique: Place the right foot on the left thigh & the left foot on the right thigh, make sure the sole of the feet is pointed upward & the heel is close to the abdomen, the legs are locked into position. Place the hands on the knees in chin mudra or jnana mudra. Keep the head straight & spine erect. Hold & continue with gentle long breaths in & out.

3. keeps the spine straight.
4. Eases menstrual discomfort.
5. stimulates the spine, pelvis, abdomen & bladder.
6. it relaxes the body & restores energy level.
7. it increases blood circulation.
8. it calms the brain & increases awareness & concentration.
